The information below will tell you how St Ursula’s Catholic Primary School will proceed if a child is showing symptoms of Covid-19
If a child is showing Covid-19 symptoms the school will contact parents immediately and the child will be sent home as per national guidance
- Symptoms include fever above 37.8°C and/or a new continuous cough (coughing a lot, for more than 1 hour or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours) and/or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.
- Parents/carers of the Child sent home will be advised that they must obtain a test for their child and that the household must isolate until the test results are known. You can do this via the NHS https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-for-coronavirus/ask-for-a-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/
- While isolating, parents may access isolation work packs for their children. These packs will be updated every week to reflect the work being taught in class. These can be accessed through the tabs on the left side of this page.
- **Those in the same class bubble will not need to be sent home at this point as it is only a suspected case.**
The Parents/Carer must notify the school of the result immediately and send through evidence via email. Once the school has received the evidence of the test results the child may return.
The Parents/Carer must notify the school of the result immediately and send through evidence via email. They must self-isolate/stay at home for at least 10 days (14 days in total, counting from the first day in isolation) and household members continue to self-isolate in accordance with national guidance. Following the Child’s positive test results, the parents / carers of pupils in the Child’s class bubble will be informed and the bubble sent home to self-isolate for 14 days and advised to arrange for a test if they show symptoms.
Should a whole class bubble have to isolate, pupils will resume using Google classroom. This will only be used in the event of a whole class bubble needing to isolate. The class teacher will upload daily lessons and will be able to communicate with their pupils throughout the day. Pupils will use the same log-in details as they did when completing work during the last school closure. A reminder of log-in details will be sent to pupils in the event oy a positive result. Google Classroom support videos can be accessed through the tabs on the left side of this page.
